Join Firelands Archaeology for a virtual presentation as we welcome Dr. Metin I. Eren, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Kent State University and a Research Associate at the Cleveland Museum of Natural history as he challenges the long-standing notion that Ice Age people using Clovis technology wiped out North American megafauna -- including Mammoths and Mastodons.
Dr. Eren will review the evidence for this Stone Age murder mystery, including the latest exciting research coming from the state-of-the-art Kent State University Experimental Archaeology Laboratory which was recently published in the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports.
As a co-director of the KSU Experimental Archaeology Lab, Dr. Eren flintknaps, breaks, shoots, tramples and otherwise destroys stone technologies from across the Stone Age to figure out how they work. He has conducted research in over a dozen countries around the world, has published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and his research has been featured in international media, including PBS Nova, The History Channel, and NPR among many others. Dr. Eren holds degrees in anthropology from Harvard (A.B.), and Southern Methodist University (M.A., Ph.D.) as well as a degree in experimental Archaology from the University of Exeter, England.
Firelands Archaeology is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization located in Sheffield Village, Ohio founded to discover, document, and conserve archaeological sites and materials in north central Ohio.
